Industrial visit organised by Mangalore Marine College and Technology for the First-year students to Soham Hydro Electric Power Plant. All the first-year students along with Prof. Nagraj visited to premises with an interest of linking the theoretical knowledge with the practical aspects of hydroelectric power plant. The Plant Members charge of production received us at the entrance and gave a brief introduction about Power generating System Principle and working. This Industrial visit was very informative and interesting as it gave an opportunity to students to familiarize with the different equipment’s of power plant and applications. The visit facilitated a short overview over the control room Reservoir, Dam, Spillways, Forebay, Surge tank, Penstock, Turbines, Powerhouse, Tail races and various Site Selection aspects. The industrial visit was helpful in upgrading the practical knowledge of students by understanding the layout of different systems of Power Plant and also benefited them to translate their theoretical knowledge with practical concepts. In this visit Students got to know about the importance of Renewable Energy and why the use of renewable energy is becoming important Day by Day.
